Green algae dominate the shallower seas of the world in their largest forms - green seaweed. They are also found all over the land, wherever there is light and moisture.
They are very successful.
They may be in the middle of some futher evolution too… they are found in symbiotic relationships with other creatures. Like, actually inside other creatures, in a very similar way to the prokarotes inside you now, forming your motocondria and chloroplasts.
